Further Debate

To further discuss our conversation in class, do you think Republicans take the simplistic route while the Democrats try to analyze the ideologies and events?

I think it's a gross generalization to think one group has a more simplistic worldview than another. I've met Republicans with complex and well thought out opinions, and I've met Democrats with simplistic, poorly reasoned opinions. I've also met the vise-versa.

I would agree. I don't think this is an area we should generalize in. It's too complex to just generalize.

I agree with what you guys are saying. I do appreciate that she slightly justified her saying this with the examples of gay marriage and abortion only needing "Bible" and "Murder" to explain a stance. Not that every Republican believes these things, but at least she justified what she said, even though it was a bit short-sighted.

Meghan, I also like that she gave examples of the "simplistic arguments." I agree that she generalized quite a bit here, but at least she gave back up for her opinions. I think it is the way Republican politicians explain their stance that makes people generalize on things like this, especially on gay marriage and abortion.
