Early Voting

This year there has been a record number of early votes. Although McCain has a slight lead in Florida, Obama has the edge in battleground states like North Carolina and Ohio. With the way things are going now, McCain needs these states in order to win this election. The Republican committee has been targeting voters that don't usually vote in elections to get out and vote this year. Is this a good way to try and win in these battleground states? Will enough Republicans vote on Election Day?

Tonight will measure the commitment of all Republicans. Throughout this whole campaign, Republicans have remained fairly tight lipped, perhaps displaying a lack of confidence they have with McCain and Palin. I think that Obama's lead could prevent some waivering Republicans voters from casting their ballots. On the other hand, they could come out with a bang and overwhelmingly vote in order to officiate their nominee.

There was a lot of early voting this year. I'd also say that the republican turn out ended up not being as good as they'd like. Not only that but the lack of faith in the Republican party may have swayed people away from voting for another republican candidate. My grandparents as well as my father(traditionally republicans) voted Obama. Interestingly though, he (my dad) did not vote for either major senate candidate as he found the negative attack ads to be too irritating and decided to vote independent. The surprising thing about my grandparents is that they also live in Arizona. So I saw a party losing so much faith that residents of the candidates state who are traditionally of the same party as the candidate not voting for him as a sign of victory before the election even started.

In the next election, for the Republicans to have a chance they have to go back to their roots and ideals as a party. McCain was almost a central candidate, a candidate who cannot even be considered fully Republican. In the beginning, I had hoped the GOP gave Ron Paul the nomination, because he really stands for the people on many issues.

The reason there was so much early voting was because the Obama campaign was advocating voting...so obviously there going to get some votes.
