Palin vs Biden?
One of the things I’ve found interesting over this past month is the attention the media pays to the nomination of Sarah Palin for vice president in comparison to the attention paid to Joe Biden. As far as I can tell, Sarah Palin is generating a lot more talk and press. This begs the question- why? I suppose the most obvious answer is that she’s a woman. Or that people are confused why McCain chose her. But I also wonder if, because of Obama’s popularity, no one was very interested in who he ended up choosing. I would love to hear what everyone else thinks about this, because I’ve been thinking about it for a while!

Abi- You made a valid point. The media is focusing on Palin vs. Biden, but isn't that the whole intent of McCain's campaign right now? The more the Republicans can focus on their Vice Presidential pick, less attention is put towards Biden--and Obama for that matter. Take the lipstick on a pig incident last week. Instead of poking and badgering Obama about his views regarding the economy, war, ect; McCain's campaign can place heavy emphasis on petty comments made by Obama, while continuing to convey their Republican agenda and platform.

Joe Biden was a far safer choice and much less controversial. Palin was a highly surprising choice meaning she gets more media focus.
I think it was a smart choice of obama, who represents so much change to pick a running mate that does not come as a surprise.
